Making music is the goal and the prize
My students have many opportunities to perform both solos and chamber music works throughout the year, both on oboe and English horn. We perform in homes, churches and senior living facilities all over the south metro.
I'm a firm believer in do-it-yourself projects
Students who are interested can learn to make their own reeds as early as the 7th grade. Reed making is a journey and a discipline unto itself. But, the diligent student need never again rely on someone else's handiwork. Many of my former students have gone on to supplement their income in college by making and selling reeds.
Help is on the way
I have experience with basic oboe repair and oboe and English horn adjustments, expert advice in purchasing an instrument, and invaluable assistance preparing for competitions and college auditions. My studio includes recording equipment and a vast musical library. In addition, I have music, bocals, shaper tips, and other equipment and tools that can be borrowed on contract.
